As problems continue to rise in the realm of caring for the aged in America, there is a new angle approaching that's not spoken of much yet, but I believe it will be addressed more, and become a form of solution for the increased senior population as the "babyboomer" generation continues to age. But, with these technologies are worked on and approved for use on people, it will open the doors for abuse.
No one likes to acknowledge this side of it, because it seems like a workable solution. The use of robots to care for humans can be a solution; but it's only as good as the people who program them. The sad fact is, evil exists, that's why there's such a problem with elder abuse. Programming a robot to care for humans can go very wrong when these machines are created with the capabilities to make their own decisions; as we saw an example of in this video.
