1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
I would suggest reading the entire chapter to get the full understanding of this verse. I'll put a commentary here to make it more clear:
1 Samuel 15:17-35
SHALLOW REPENTANCE UNAVAILING
Samuel was deeply moved when he heard of Saul’s failure, “and he cried unto the Lord all night.” Thus he was prepared to accost the sinful king. Mr. Finney tells of a minister who was so burdened with the souls of men that he could do but little preaching, his whole time and strength being given to prayer. It is only in that spirit that men like Samuel can undertake their solemn duty.
Saul’s response was very unsatisfactory. He began by laying the blame on the people, 1Sa_15:21. He pretended that the object of sparing the cattle, etc., was to sacrifice them to God-a very hypocritical excuse, 1Sa_15:22. Without any deep consciousness of sin, he lightly professed sorrow, and hoped to pacify Samuel by asking that they might kneel together in worship, 1Sa_15:25. When the old prophet refused to let him off so easily, the only thing that Saul cared for was that the elders should still honor him, 1Sa_15:30. How hardened Saul had become! This was the beginning of the sin unto death. (F.B. Meyer comm)
When people live in deep sin, and their hearts are hardened-this will be the result. Make excuses, lie, try to cover up the disobedience, and pretend "it's not that serious-let's just forget it". God doesn't work this way-and Saul found it out, as he slipped further and further into delusion, sin, and ended in his death; by his own hand, because his armor bearer refused Saul's plea to kill him before his enemies did. This fulfilled the prediction from Samuel the prophet, who was called up by the witch at Endor:
1Sa 28:19 Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
Read the full account of this last rebellious act of Saul in the entire chapter of 1Sam ch. 28.
When sin runs it's course in a person bent on rebellion, the outcome is always the same- The wages of sin, is death.
This Halloween, many people are planning on celebrating it, and promoting it to their kids, it's sad to watch it. They are being moved by the same spirits that pushed Saul in his rebellion, and teaching their kids to be the same.
Saul's life showed the progression that rebellion takes. This king began as an anointed prophet, chosen by God. But, with each disobedience, he lost more of his anointing, and he never truly repented. He mouthed remorse for getting caught, but never truly turned from his sin-it waxed worse in him, especially when he found David had been anointed to take his place. When people are confronted with their sin, and continue to harden their hearts, the time comes when God no longer deals with them-he gives them over to their sin, stops trying to convict them and leaves them alone. Then they are left to Satan and his demons, and their fate.
When people are shown truth-and they reject it; there comes a time when God will leave them alone, and let them have what they want. Only when they face their death, will they cry out for mercy and and a way out of their torment-but too late. Jesus clearly warned us of this, in the story of the rich man and Lazarus, who remains in hell to this day. Luke 16:22-24
I've been told several times that I've not proven my ministry by marrying or burying people. Paul talked about his ministry several times in the bible, he had this to say to his critics once:
1Co 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
Paul wasn't sent to baptize people-but to preach the Gospel. God calls and appoints people for different purposes.
He didn't call me to marry, bury, or gain a social status-God called me to be a Watchman, an intercessor, and a teacher of His word. What people do with what is given to them, is between them, and God. Over the years, I've spent many nights, and long seasons of intercession with fasting and prayer- coming against the spiritual darkness over New England. I've seen many answers to prayer, but also a lot of deep rooted stubborn rebellion. As the last days continue to unfold, I've been shown it will get worse-but I'm to stay at my post, till the end; when either Jesus returns-or He takes me home.
These posts, and blogs are double-barreled shotgun blasts at the demonic forces over these New England states-with scriptures and teachings against the forces of Satan-to give him another black eye. To those who read them, and listen to the teachings-the day will come, when you stand before God-you will never be able to say "No one ever tried to warn me, or tell me the truth". Your getting the truth here now. What you do with it, is up to you. I love you enough, to spend the time doing this-and giving you the truth-I hope and pray you will heed it. Repent, and give your life to the Lord, while you are still here. The day you die, there's no second chance. To those who laugh and mock-the day is coming, when no one will be laughing.
Many people, including many believers, believe that Halloween, is just an innocent holiday. But you should know its dark, pagan origins and what the Bible really says about it.
God's word is clear-come out from among them, and be ye separate:
2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
I Never Knew You
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Heaven is a prepared place, for a prepared people. In that abode-there is nothing that defiles, no corruption, no death, no abominable practices:
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
There's a place there for all who turn from sin-and unrighteousness. I hope to see you there.
Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
